Apostle Paul:  Lessons in Faith

Paul’s life is a true illustration of radical transformation and an unwavering obedience to God’s call. When we look at his post conversion time, we observe that it is marked by several key characteristics.

Obedience to the Call

Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus (Acts 9) was a pivotal moment. While on his journey he was confronted by the risen Christ in a blinding light and heard HIS voice directly. This wasn’t a dream, a gradual realization or a subtle prompting. He experienced a real, powerful, undeniable encounter that jolted him and demanded an immediate response. Paul’s immediate submission to Christ’s instructions – “What shall I do, Lord?” (Acts 22:10) – expresses his response of prompt submission and obedience after this life-altering incident.

Radical Change: Act of Obedience

Looking at Paul’s conversion, we know that it wasn’t just a change of belief; it was a complete transformation of his life. The experience on the road to Damascus forced him to completely change everything that was known to him, who he was, what he represented, what he thought he knew. This incident challenged the very core of his belief system and his understanding of Judaism. Not just that even this changed his perception of God Himself. His journey from being a persecutor to a passionate apostle, happened in a flash of light, that changed his direction to dedicating his life to spreading the gospel. This radical shift in his life trajectory was a direct result of his obedience to Christ’s call. This indicates that true obedience requires us to leave behind our old ways of living. We must fully embrace a new path that God has for us.

 Obedience in Suffering & Persecution

Paul faced immense suffering and persecution for his obedience to the gospel. If we carefully read Acts 21~28. We will find out that Paul went through an immense pressure and torture for representing Christ that he encountered on the road to Damascus. I have made brief chart that depicts Paul’s persecution.

Yet, he persevered, remaining faithful to his calling despite the hardships. This highlights that obedience is not always easy or comfortable; it often requires us to endure trials and tribulations. I will suggest that in your own timing please read through chapter 21~28. You will have a better picture of what Paul went through, in his journey of obedience, once he submitted to the voice on the road to Damascus.

 Obedience to Jesus Command

Paul’s ministry was driven by his obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus commanded him to make disciples of all nations. He traveled extensively throughout the Roman Empire, proclaiming the gospel and establishing churches. This shows obedience to God’s global mission. It reflects a willingness to go wherever He leads; this includes places that are unfamiliar and dangerous. I am closing this here, as it is getting late.

Again, I emphasize that your partnership holds great value. This journey of obedience to God is not possible without the encouragement of the readers. Please keep connected and feel free to comment. See You soon in the next post.
