How obedience Deepens Our Relationship with God
Welcome to my blog, today i was thinking about the lives of the disciples and how they stepped into eternity. I had one question in particular and continuously poked me. Will it be possible for the believer to stand their ground in the face of adversity? I want to share a profound truth that has transformed countless lives and remains just as powerful today: the inseparable connection between obedience to God and a deep, personal relationship with Him.
The Unbreakable Bond: Knowing Him Personally
I want to share a powerful, life-changing truth with you, one that has kept believers strong for two thousand years and can do the same for us today. It’s the simple, beautiful secret that ties everything together: the unbreakable connection between saying “Yes” to God (obedience) and having a close, personal friendship with Him.
This is the secret to getting through tough times because we don’t just know about Jesus—we know Him personally, one-to-one. This strong, intimate bond changes everything! We know who He is because we have experienced His love, His stirring power, His grace, His healing, and His personal touch in our own lives. This isn’t secondhand knowledge; it’s deep, personal experience.

This is what’s going to strengthen you—this personal connection is the only thing that will sustain you when you can’t get help anywhere else. HE is an anchor, a steadfast compass, that guides us through every storm: the loving voice of our Heavenly Father.
It’s the very root of all spiritual strength, making our obedience to Him not a burden, but a joyful, powerful response.
The Foundation of Relationship: Our Obedience
Think about any deep, meaningful relationship you have. It’s built on trust, communication, and a mutual understanding that manifests in actions. The same principle, magnified infinitely, applies to our walk with God. Jesus Himself said in John 14:15
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
This isn’t a burden; it’s an invitation. It’s an invitation to experience His love more fully. When we consistently choose to obey God’s commands—to love our neighbor, to forgive, to seek justice, to pray without ceasing—we develop a spiritual ear. We begin to discern His voice more clearly amidst the world’s clamor, and our trust in His guidance deepens. This isn’t a transactional relationship; it’s transformative. When we obey, we’re not just following rules; we’re actively responding to His love, showing Him that we trust His wisdom above our own.
Spiritual Strength: A Shield Against the Storm
So when we consistently choose obedience? We grow spiritually strong. Obedience is like spiritual exercise; each act builds our spiritual muscles. It cultivates discipline, self-control, and an unwavering focus on Christ. This strength isn’t for our own pride; it’s a divine endowment, equipping us to stand firm against every assault the enemy, or indeed any “hater,” might throw our way.
The world is a harsh place. Haters, critics, skeptics, and those who simply don’t understand our faith can throw stones of ridicule, persecution, and even outright hostility. They might question our motives, mock our beliefs, or try to tear down our character. Be reminded when our roots are deep in obedience to God, we are not easily shaken.
Ephesians 6:10-11,
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
Obedience is a crucial part of donning that armor. It’s the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation. When we are walking in His will, we are clothed in His protection. The taunts and threats of the world bounce off us, not because we are inherently tough, but because our strength comes from a divine source that is greater than any earthly opposition.
